Hello from Portugal! 👋

In the previous post we shared that it was the beginning of our trip, and today we are already back in Portugal. ☀️ Time flies, definitely.

Why is it that one ends up more tired after a vacation? 😮‍💨. I think we will need two days to recover, but tomorrow we already have a super busy day 😅. But anyway, let's get to what we came for!

This week's 5 points:

  • We saw it coming: 100,000 welcome bonus points!

  • Wells Fargo eliminates option to share points with third parties

  • Wells Fargo discontinues Attune credit card

  • Mini-review: Park Hyatt Milano

  • Wyndham launches new “premium” card

1️⃣ We saw it coming: 100,000 points welcome bonus!

Last week we talked about the update they made to the Sapphire Preferred and how, in general, the changes are highly positive.

There we mentioned that, if you were interested in this card due to its new benefit structure at a very reasonable cost, our recommendation was to wait this week because there was a high possibility that they would launch an elevated welcome bonus, and sure enough, that is exactly what happened. 🤑

🥳 For a limited time, you can get 100,000 points (instead of 75,000) when spending $5,000 during the first 3 months.

To put it in perspective, this is only the third time in the 15 years that this card has existed that it is offering a 100,000-point bonus. It is a big deal.

And if you are wondering:

  • Could it be a good option for me?

  • Do I qualify for the bonus?

  • Are the new benefits worth it?

Don't worry, because we created a guide with all the details you need to know about both the card and this offer, including who qualifies. You can access the guide here.

Likewise, if you have any questions just reply to this email and we will gladly help you!

💳 The point of this news: If it was a good option before, with this elevated bonus it is excellent. Unfortunately we do not qualify for the bonus (crying in points), but we are going to keep this card in our portfolio thanks to the new benefits. We already activated our one-year AppleTV subscription and in the coming weeks we will be taking advantage of the new $100 credit 😎. With this alone, it pays for itself and more. Now, if you qualify for the bonus… imagine that 😮‍💨. Let us know if you decide to take advantage of this mega offer!

2️⃣ Wells Fargo removes the option to share points with third parties

Wells Fargo is not usually the most popular bank in the world of points and miles, but in recent years it has become a player hard to ignore for several reasons:

  • It is possible to transfer points to different hotel and airline programs. In some cases, such as Wyndham, the transfer rate is excellent: 1 Wells Fargo point equals 2 Wyndham points.

  • They have also launched quite solid credit cards, including options with no annual fee, which makes their ecosystem much more attractive.

  • And along with other features, until now they had an especially useful function for couples and families: the possibility of sharing points or rewards to third-party accounts. But, unfortunately this is about to end.

Starting September 25, 2026, Wells Fargo will no longer allow sharing or gifting rewards to other people's accounts.

Until now (and until September 24, 2026) this feature allowed to do something very interesting. For example, if one person has an Active Cash card with $500 in cashback and another person has an Autograph with 50,000 points, it is possible to transfer that cashback to the points account and combine it all into a single account. In this case, the $500 in cashback would convert into 50,000 points, leaving a total of 100,000 points in a single account.

This is especially valuable for couples and families, because having 100,000 points in a single account is usually much more practical than having 25,000 points spread across four different accounts.

Not only for simplicity, but also because at the moment of redeeming points, whether transferring them to a travel program or applying them as statement credits, having them consolidated makes everything much easier.

💳 The point of this news: Wells Fargo joins a trend we started to see recently: Citi also recently eliminated the ability to transfer points to third parties. This change does not reduce the value of the program, but it does reduce its flexibility. And as always in the world of points and miles, when a useful feature disappears, it is convenient to take advantage of it before it is too late.

3️⃣ Wells Fargo discontinues Attune credit card

Wells Fargo is giving too many Citi vibes with its most recent changes: Between the previous story, where they announced they will eliminate sharing rewards with third-party accounts, and now this one, there is like a déjà vu: Wells Fargo decided to discontinue the Attune card for new applicants, virtually overnight and without prior notice.

As of now, the card is no longer available for new applications. And yes, this feels quite similar to what we saw just a few weeks ago with Citi, when they closed the Custom Cash for new applicants.

Although Wells Fargo has not provided an explanation, we believe it is possible that the Attune simply was not the success they expected.

And it makes sense to a certain extent, because it was a very specific
