Today we are writing from Lisbon! This week Citi decided to discontinue one of its best credit cards with practically no prior notice, on the other hand, only for tomorrow Bilt's Rent Day will be available, the best offer of the last few weeks is still active, and there are several transfer bonuses ending soon…

The 5 points for this week:

  • Olá from Lisbon 👋

  • Citi discontinues Custom Cash card

  • Bilt Rent Day: up to 125% bonus to TAP Portugal

  • 150,000 bonus points with the CSR

  • Current transfer bonuses

1️⃣ Hello from Lisbon!

Today and tomorrow we are in Lisbon since we came to pick up our Venezuelan passports. We expected to come in July or August, but we received the notification that they were already ready for collection in early May. They took barely a month to process, and that surprised us a lot (in a good way, of course).

For this visit, we literally took advantage of hours before the Hyatt devaluation to book a night at the Hyatt Regency Lisbon with a free night certificate we had, since this hotel went from Category 4 to Category 5.

As these certificates are valid for category 1 to 4 hotels, we applied it just before it changed categories and we were able to stay without spending either money or points.

Too bad we will no longer be able to apply more certificates to this property, because it really was one of the best uses we could give them.

Even so, we would stay with points being a category 5 because it is an excellent hotel. This is like our seventh time here, and we highly recommend it.

It is a little far from the center, but in 10 minutes on Uber/Bolt or 15 minutes by public transport you are there.

2️⃣ Citi discontinues Custom Cash card

A few days ago, rumors began to appear on Reddit saying that Citi would discontinue its popular Custom Cash card that same week.

To many people's surprise, the rumors were true. With virtually no prior warning, Citi stopped accepting new applications for this card on May 28, 2026.

This caught many completely off guard, including us.

The "good news" is that if you already had this card, you can continue using it and enjoying its benefits.

At the same time, it seems that it is still possible to do a product change from another card to this one. If you have another Citi card that you are not as interested in and want this one, requesting a product change now might be the smartest move. We wouldn't let it pass since they might eliminate this access route at any moment.

This card is one of the best on the market since it has no annual fee and offers 5% cashback in the category you spend the most on each billing cycle (up to $500 spent).

Surprisingly, with this change, the only current Citi cashback card is the Double Cash since they also discontinued the Rewards+ last year.

We have no idea what Citi's strategy is with its card portfolio, but it is certainly disappointing that they only have one card that offers real cashback. Let's hope it's part of a more favorable strategy in the future, but we can only wait and see.

💳 The point of this news: As we always say in the points and miles world, when something is too good to pass up, we should take advantage of it because it doesn’t usually last forever. This card was excellent for maximizing a monthly category up to $500 spent ($25 cashback or 2,500 ThankYou points) with no annual fee. If it fits into your strategy, it is still possible to take advantage of it by doing a product change from another card.

3️⃣ Bilt Rent Day: up to 125% bonus to TAP Portugal

Tomorrow is the first of the month and that means it's Rent Day with Bilt. Only for tomorrow, there is a transfer bonus to TAP Portugal. As usual, it is a tiered bonus that depends on the status tier you have with Bilt:

  • Blue: 25% bonus

  • Silver: 50% bonus

  • Gold: 75% bonus

  • Platinum: 100% bonus

Additionally, you can redeem $150 in Bilt Cash to unlock the next status tier bonus, and Platinum members can get up to a 125% bonus. (This applies to the first 100,000 points transferred).

You can find non-stop flights from the United States to Lisbon for 29,000 miles (and extremely low taxes) each way, and with the transfer bonus, you would need to transfer between 15,000 and 24,000 points depending on your status. If you want to take a trip to Europe starting in Portugal… this could be your sign. 😎

Remember also that all day tomorrow (June 1), you earn double points on any purchase other than rent, up to 1,000 bonus points.

💳 If you don't have a Bilt card and are interested in applying, we invite you to do so through our links. More information here.

4️⃣ 150,000 bonus points with the CSR

The 150,000-point offer from the Chase Sapphire Reserve remains active and is currently positioned as the best one.

Although it has a high annual fee, if you want to take advantage of an excellent travel card and the highest bonus in this card's history, this is the best time. As a reminder, this card offers:

  • Welcome bonus: 150,000 points (minimum $1,500 in cash or travel)

  • Spending requirement: $6,000 in 3 months

  • Annual travel credit: $300 automatic

  • Additional benefits: More than $1,500 in annual credits

  • Annual fee: $795

💳 The point of this news: 150,000 points are worth at least $1,500 in cash, but as we usually say, it can be much more if used strategically for travel. Maybe this is not a card for everyone for life, but you can definitely get a lot of value out of it for at least 1-2 years, especially with such a high bonus. More info here.

5️⃣ Current transfer bonuses👇

  • Chase → 30% to Southwest (until 6/5)

  • Chase → 55% to Marriott (until 6/30)

  • Citi → 30% to Preferred Hotels & Resorts (until 6/13)

  • Citi → 25% to Wyndham (until 6/13)

  • Bilt → up to 125% TAP Portugal (6/1 only)
